Born and educated in Hong Kong. Mrs Sylvia Lam is an architect by profession, and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the
University of Hong Kong in 1984, before joining the Architectural Services Department. She is now the Director of the Department, with work portfolio including the development, construction and maintenance of government buildings and facilities together with the provision of related technical advisory services.
In the past 30 years of service in the Department, Mrs Lam has been involved in a varieties of public projects including Central Government Offices and Legislative Council Building at Tamar, Revitalizing Kam Tong Hall into Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum, the Liantang/ Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point and associated Facilities, Trade and Industry Tower and Hong Kong Children’s Hospital. Mrs Lam has also participated actively in the work of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, and is currently a member of the Board of External Affairs.
