With over 45,000 members, the Chartered Institute of Building is the UK-based leading professional institute, the international icon of the building professionals to promote the science and practice of building and construction for the benefit of the society. The Institute has been established since 1834, and was granted a royal charter to become the Chartered Institute of Building in 1980. Members and Fellows of CIOB can use the title “Chartered Builder” and are represented by the designation of “MCIOB” and “FCIOB” respectively. Furthermore, in 2013 the Privy Council granted the CIOB power to award the designation “ Chartered Construction Manager”. All Members belong to MCIOB to FCIOB can use the designations Chartered Construction Manager or Chartered builder for the life of their chartered membership. The Hong Kong branch was established in 1973 and is currently one of the largest overseas hub over 2,500 members outside the United Kingdom. It is one of the international hub of the CIOB.
