David Hancox

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte, David gained extensive senior-level financial and commercial experience working for large blue-chip companies, including British Airways and Aviva, as well as in several SME businesses as CFO/COO. He has an in-depth knowledge of the built environment having most recently been the Chief Operating Officer at Structa LLP, a structural and civil engineering consultancy, where he was responsible for managing all of the business operations of the partnership. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

David joined CIOB in June 2025 as Chief Operating Officer, focusing on turning strategic vision into effective delivery, as well as taking responsibility for the effective and efficient running of the CIOB’s internal organisational operations, including Finance, Digital, Data and IT, HR, and Project Management Office. He is also responsible for CIOB Assist, which offers support to CIOB members and their families.
